Research Interests
Understanding the interactions between land surface and the atmosphere is critically important for conserving ecosystems, stabilizing earth climate, and promoting health and well-being. My research interests are to mechanistically understand the interactions of the energy, water, and greenhouse gases using tools of micrometeorology and environmental sciences. Specifically, our group uses field observations at a range of land surface (e.g., forests, wetlands, fire scars, urban buildups, and urban park), remote sensing, and mathematical models for integrating and synthesizing data to knowledge.
Current projects
Measurements of CH4 emissions from urban landscapes through the KAKENHI project
Measurements of CH4 flux at upland forests through the KAKENHI project, KAKENHI project
Greenhouse gas budgets at Arctic and boreal ecosystems through the ArCS project, ArCSII and ADC synthesis
Understanding global wetland CH4 dynamics through the FLUXNET-CH4 synthesis, KAKENHI project
Research Tools
Micrometeorological measurements (e.g., eddy covariance method, relaxed eddy accumulation method)
Modelling: ecological model (e.g., Biome-BGC, big-leaf model), machine learning, multi-layer turbulent model (second order closure model, Lagrangian localized near-field theory)
Remote sensing
Programing (C, C++, Python)
